چکیده

They naturally found in coastal, estuarine and marine environment world wide (Letchumanan et al., 2014; Raghunath, 2014). Vibrionaceae have primarily been investigated due to their pathogenic potential to humans and aquatic animals and can be transmitted to humans via infected water or through fecal transmission. Several species of Vibrio have been implicated with disease in fishes (Elhadi et al., 2004; Ran and Su, 2006; Su and Liu, 2007) and shrimp causing high mortality and serious loss in prawn hatcheries (Ruangpan and Kitao, 1991). Isolation and Characterization of Two Lytic Bacteriophages, φSt2 and φGrn1; Phage Therapy Application for Biological Control of Vibrio alginolyticus in Aquaculture Live Feeds.

Bacterial infections are a serious problem in aquaculture since they can result in massive mortalities in farmed fish and invertebrates. Vibriosis is one of the most common diseases in marine aquaculture hatcheries and its causative agents are bacteria of the genus Vibrio mostly entering larval rearing water through live feeds, such as Artemia and rotifers. The pathogenic Vibrio alginolyticus s...

Isolation and characterization of broad spectrum bacteriophages lytic to Vibrio harveyi from shrimp farms of Kerala, India.

UNLABELLED Of 33 phages isolated from various shrimp farms in Kerala, India, six were segregated to have broad spectrum lytic efficiency towards 87 isolates of Vibrio harveyi with cross-infecting potential to a few other important aquaculture pathogens. They were further tested on beneficial aquaculture micro-organisms such as probiotics and nitrifying bacterial consortia and proved to be nonin...

Phage Therapy as an Approach to Prevent Vibrio anguillarum Infections in Fish Larvae Production

Fish larvae in aquaculture have high mortality rates due to pathogenic bacteria, especially the Vibrio species, and ineffective prophylactic strategies. Vaccination is not feasible in larvae and antibiotics have reduced efficacy against multidrug resistant bacteria. A novel approach to controlling Vibrio infections in aquaculture is needed. The potential of phage therapy to combat vibriosis in ...

Screening and evaluation of indigenous bacteria from the Persian Gulf as a probiotic and biocontrol agent against Vibrio harveyi in Litopenaeus vannamei post larvae

Isolation of autochthonous bacteria from marine sources as a potential probiont in biocontroling against pathogenic Vibrio species in the shrimp culture industry was the aim of current research. A total of 198 bacterial strains were isolated from pond water, sediment, hepatopancreas and gut samples of shrimps after culturing the samples on Tryptic Soy Agar and incubated at 30 °C for 24-48 h. Th...

Evaluation of endurance against antibiotics in the western blotting shrimp propagation centers on pathogens of vibrio

This study was conducted to evaluate the resistance to antibiotics in the western white shrimp propagation centers on pathogens of Vibrio bacteria. In Iran, the most important bacteria in the shrimp are the vibrio species. In Bushehr Province, due to the high efficacy of erythromycin antibiotics, streptomycyne oxytracycline and tremitoprim in bacterial diseases, were selected as the species. Th...
